coming soon: Compact Under Seat CRUNCH GP-800 Aktive Subwoofer

     

Do these under-seat sub woofers help at all?
There are so many different conflicting reviews

I have a Crunch GP-800 in my car, since about 2 years now – and it definitely makes a difference!

    • RMS: 100 Watt
    • SPL: 102 dB (A)
    • Frequency: 40-150 Hz
    • Phase Shift 0°/180°
    • Bass-EQ 0-12dB
    • RCA Line Inputs
    • High Level Inputs
    • Bass Remote

This is an 8″  sub woofer, in a compact housing – it won’t compete with 2x 12″ subs in a proper built box filling your boot / trunk . . . but that is obvious.
The Housing has following dimensions:

    • W: 252 mm / 9.9 in
    • D: 354 mm / 13.6 in
    • H: 73 mm / 2.9 in

But, how do you get Bass out of these compact woofers? – you do need to understand Bass, and how to configure your setup for the most impact.

I love my Crunch GP-800, but I would like even more bass – but don’t have the space in my Pickup . . . so I wonder if 2x 12″ (yes you do get 12″) under seat / compact sub woofer might make a difference? This will make for a good review – to come! 😉

in 2018 I will be reviewing a plug and play chip tuning for my car.
I will be particularly interested in the Power Increase (bhp), and the fuel consumption improvement, that these devices promise.

Currently I am looking at two possibilities:
Racechip
Tunercentre

For my car (Isuzu DMAX 2012)
with 163 bhp / PS stock standard,

  • Tunercenter offers:
    • €399
    • +52 bhp /PS
    • +128 Nm

 

seems like a “no brainer“.
Both companies have been around about 10 years, both advertise “made in Germany” (we’ll see).

Racechip does have a lot of endorsements, and even very professional reviews on YouTube.

will follow up on this in summer.
If anyone knows a good reliable way of testing bhp – let me know.

Still to come, I compare a handful of in-ear buds that I own – Sennheiser, Philips, Sony and more recently Degauss Labs . . .

  • I will compare:
    • sound reproduction – with various music genres, and calls
    • microphone quality – when in a call, are you heard by the other end clearly?
    • 3,5mm Jack – 90 Degree, or straight?
    • cable – tangle free?
    • diaphragm noise – when you press on the buds, do you hear a crackling?

Have had the Alpine INE-W925R for about two years now. Have installed the single Firmware Update available, Version 1.300 which is already way old . . . my First Impressions and big “Pet Peeve” coming soon.

Hope Alpine will pay attention
